Library’s chalk project encourages residents to share positive messages

As a part of the Indian Trails Library’s Summer Library Adventure, this year’s theme — “Curiosity Colors Your World” — was embraced by bibliophiles of all ages throughout the community.

The Indian Trails Library provided chalk to residents to encourage them to take part in the Summer Community Chalk Project.

Library staff offered chalk packs to residents to encourage participation in the Summer Community Chalk Project. The packages were available at the library and various locales. The colorful compositions topped off the annual reading adventure. Dozens of artistic expressions poured in from all ages displaying images of positivity.

“Our planning committee wanted a community project that would make our community more colorful; the project went with our ‘Color Your World’ theme. I think the community responded so well because we made the chalk so easily available in several places. Members knew that we would share their art widely throughout the library and community,” said Morgan Sedano, Digital and Maker Services adviser.

“The project served as an exciting opportunity to have fun with the chalk, with an additional option of emailing their work to us. Connecting community is what we do here at the library.”

The Indian Trails Public Library District serves residents of Wheeling, Prospect Heights and Buffalo Grove.
