Meet a Maker: Lee

This month we are featuring Lee. The library is highlighting members of our community who use the Launch Pad to create artisan crafts.

What do you like to do in the Launch Pad or creatively in your free time?

I often make customized gifts for various milestones or events: weddings, birthdays, graduations, etc. When I was first learning how to use a tool, such as the laser etcher or about sublimation printing, I made things for myself as training/practice.

What inspires your creativity?

Often times it is event-driven. Sometimes I decide on a broad topic, such as my ‘profiles in courage’ neighborhood mug project and base my designs on a subjective interpretation of the local situation.

What do you like about making?

The Launch Pad gives me the opportunity to try out tools/technologies that I would not otherwise have access to. It also allows me to personalize items and create customized one-of-a-kind objects. Finally, in order to do the projects I wanted, I learned how to cut and sand wood and also use graphics editor software.

What advice do you have for aspiring creatives?

The future is now; it’s also free and friendly at the Indian Trails Public Library Launch Pad.

Thanks, Lee, for sharing your makerspace experience.
