How Do I Become a Member?

Residents

Register for your library card at the main library or the Prospect Heights branch by showing two proofs of residency within the Indian Trails Library District. Do I live within the library district? Cards are renewed every three years.

Not all portions of the Village of Wheeling are within our library boundaries. We also serve portions of Buffalo Grove, Prospect Heights, Arlington Heights and Northbrook.

Some I.D. examples are:

  • Illinois driver’s license or Photo I.D. card
  • Utility bill
  • Vehicle insurance card
  • Mortgage papers
  • Rental agreements

Youth and teens, ages 17 and under, will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to sign up for a library card.

Non-residents

Illinois residents with a valid library card may register his/her card for use at the Indian Trails Library, by presenting a current valid photo ID along with proof of address and your library card. Once registered, your card will be valid for one year and is renewable. Some services, such as checking out items that are designated as Hot Picks, or accessing reference databases from home are reserved for ITLD members.

Businesses

Businesses located within the boundaries of the Indian Trails Library District are eligible to receive a library card.
