Against Racism

The past week and a half have been extremely difficult for our country, as we have been confronted with another tragedy with the killing of George Floyd. The emotions many of us have felt range from anger to despair as we again are faced with long standing issues from our past as a nation.

At ITPLD, we unequivocally stand against racism in all forms. We stand with those who seek to end systemic racism and bring about positive change in our community.

We reinforce our vision to connect the community by embracing all cultures and encouraging curiosity to better understand the issues we face today. Through knowledge and action we can grow together as a community, creating a better world for ourselves, our families and our neighbors.

We are committed to developing

  • our equity, diversity and inclusion committee
  • fostering a library culture of acceptance and openness
  • hiring diverse staff
  • building collections that showcase all voices
  • presenting programs that address societal issues and encourage civic conversations.

We will continue to lend our support and voice to those who are working tirelessly to expose and eradicate racism in our country and within our community.

As a public library, we pledge to help lead our community forward in these difficult times.
