Library Director
Indian Trails Public Library District

Our preferred candidate will be an experienced, community focused, goal-oriented, strategic leader with demonstrated management, fiscal and communication skills. Indian Trails Public Library District enjoys a circulation over 1 million/year in a family-friendly community with a budget of over $6 million. A talented, hardworking staff of over 100 (77 FTE) and an experienced library board are looking forward to a possible building expansion referendum in the near future. The director must have an understanding of marketing strategies and be prepared to implement new services and technologies for a highly diverse population. Indian Trails Public Library District serves three suburban communities located northwest of Chicago. Requirements:

MLS from ALA-Accredited Institution. Minimum of 10 years professional public library experience with 7 years of demonstrated management experience in administration, budgeting, planning and marketing. Strong fiscal management skills. Ability to attract, maintain, and encourage the growth of a talented staff. Knowledge of and interest in technical advances in library processes. Understanding of market research and communication techniques. Excellent customer service and public relations skills with the ability to work effectively with a library board, library fundraising groups and a variety of local governments and other community agencies and organizations. Salary: Minimum $95,000, depending on qualifications.
