Library News Feeds

The Indian Trails Public Library District generates RSS summaries that can be read through software readers called Feed Readers or Aggregators. If you use a Feed Reader we encourage you to add our feeds to your daily reading. To do this, copy the URL of our RSS feeds (below) or click on the little orange graphic that reads XML and copy the URL of that page. You can also add our content to your MyYahoo or personal Google page by clicking the "Add to MyYahoo!" and "Add to Google" images below.

What is RSS?

RSS (often called Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format for sharing and distributing web content such as news headlines. Using a RSS feed reader you can view data feeds from various sources.

What is an Atom?

An Atom is another form of syndication that is a newer format of RSS.

RSS/News Feed Reader/Aggregators:

RSS/News Aggregators will download and display RSS feeds for you. A number of free and commercial News Aggregators are available online.

Many aggregators are separate, "stand-alone" programs. Yahoo and Google users are allowed to add RSS feeds to their My Yahoo! and Google pages.

To view one of Indian Trails Public Library feeds in your Feed Reader/Aggregators:

1. Copy the URL/shortcut that corresponds to the topic that interests you.
2. Paste the URL into your reader.
